South East Asia's largest telecoms company SingTel's wholly-owned subsidiary Viridian Ltd purchased 1.58 million shares of Bharti Airtel for an aggregate cash consideration of Rs 42.27 crore or Singapore dollar 12.45 million, the company said in a filing to a Singapore stock exchange.
In a disclosure on the National Stock Exchange, Airtel said Kohli sold 70,000 shares in the company on March 9.

Infosys already works with a communication services provider major in Western Europe in the digital TV space. The company has a solution called modular content accelerator which serves as an interface between stakeholders of consumer marketing and IT. The solution provides an operator the means to efficiently manage content catalogue, bundled offers and pricing, apart from providing interactive services through multi-media content storefront.

Under this code, an open offer for 20 per cent of a company's shares has to be made in two circumstances -- either the promoters buy more than 5 per cent in the company within a year or another entity acquires 15 per cent. The reason it is triggered is that Bharti Telecom, Bharti Airtel's promoter company, would end up indirectly buying a little over 12 per cent in it via its investment in MTN.

The process of switching off the 3G network has already started with Kolkata in the recent-concluded June quarter. By September, the shutdown will be affected in 6-7 more circles and between December and March the entire 3G network would be shut down.
